The Murramarang Twilight Markets, were held at the Bawley shops on March 7th and were absolutely fabulous! There are so many talented and crafty people living in this area, it’s difficult to single anyone out for mention but I’ll try.
Sandra Worth makes feta and labneh worth dying for – well, not quite but you know what I mean. Roger’s gourmet rocky road and nougat disappear in a flash because they are so delicious.
I don’t remember nougat being this good when I was a kid calling it nugget, as did my parents.
I don’t need to go on, it seems the Murramarang Growers and Craft market will be held once a month until further notice and it will definitely be on this Easter at the Bawley shops. Easter is the best time of the year to be here! The ocean is incredibly warm, the weather has settled and the crowds are gone. More fun at Easter. The celebrated Ulladulla Blessing of the Fleet is an important event held every Easter down at Ulladulla Harbour. This year it is on Sunday April 5. This began originally as a religious procession instigated by the Italian fishermen founders of the fishing industry in Ulladulla to encourage fish into the nets. It has now become a mixture of secular and religious spectacle as the floats parade down the Princes Highway to the harbour.
The floats are amazing, each one striking a different theme and carrying a gorgeous Ulladulla Princess and Prince.
It’s a family fun day featuring greasy pole climbing for the valiant or slightly crazy, as well as beach games for the kids. Entertainment on the main stage, Scottish dancing on the highway, (closed of course) food stalls, a Kids’ zone at the Civic Centre, a tug o’war and culminating in a fantastic fireworks display at 6-30pm.
We may not be Sydney Harbour but our fireworks are pretty good for a small town like Ulladulla.
See you soon!
