Beach Wedding Venue - NSW mid south coast
Your beach ceremony..... our mid south coast Wedding Venue
Bawley Bush Retreat at Bawley Point provides the perfect reception and accommodation venue to follow your nearby Beach Wedding.
"We had our beach wedding at Bawley Beach Reserve... and had our photos taken at the beautiful Bawley Headland. We headed back to the Cockatoo Room at Bawley Bush Retreat. We couldn't have wished for more - everything was just perfect - Marcus and Emma, Sydney
Many beach-going Australians choose to tie their knot at beaches or in beachside reserves/National Parks and Bawley Bush Retreat is perfectly placed to support yours. The most popular beach/beach reserve used for local weddings is the Bawley Point Beach Reserve at Bawley Point just 3km drive away. The now world-famous Pebbly Beach in Murramarang National Park (from where surfing kangaroo pics went viral) is just 25 minutes away. All marriage celebrants have portable sound equipment that can be used in these unpowered surroundings but be aware you will need to pay an insurance-related fee to Council.
After your ceremony and beach-backdrop photography it is just a few minutes back from Bawley Point to our private, coastal, lakeside venue to celebrate.
If you actually want sand beneath your feet also check out (listed from north to south)- North Beach, Cormorant Beach, Gannett Beach, Murramarang Beach and Shell Beach. The Bawley Point Gantry and Headland areas are beatiful barren rock areas area and could provide a stark backdrop for your wedding or for post-wedding photos. National Park beaches are a little further north and south.
Please Note: Before you can hold your ceremony on a beach or reserve you must first obtain permission and pay a fee. And remember members of the public can't be excluded.
If the location you want is within a National Park obtain permission from the NSW Office of Environment and Heritage (phone Ulladulla office on 02 4454 9500) where an application letter is required and where the fee is around $100 (but up to 15 cars exempt from day use fee). In National parks marquees, rice, confeeti and flower petals are not allowed.
For Council's reserves get permission from Shoalhaven council (fee less than $100). Call the Council's Parks Dept on (02) 4429 3339 for more information or you can download the .pdf application form from here http://doc.shoalhaven.nsw.gov.au/Displaydoc.aspx?Record=FM11/240.
Beach Wedding Backup Plan
As with all outdoor weddings it is important to factor in a contingency plan in the event of inclement weather that could possibly ruin your ceremony. The Cockatoo Room at Bawley Bush Retreat, already prepared by you for your reception, is the perfect fall-back location if wet, windy or heat-wave conditions seem likely to prevail. The room, with it's timber featured vaulted ceilings and the lakeside land with sweeping lawns and well-kept gardens are both so attractive that many people skip the beach idea altogether and decide to get married at Bawley Bush Retreat itself. It's your wedding, it's your choice.
