Cafe Cottage

Cafe Cottage, our largest

Café Cottage is our most flexible cottage.  When rented alone Cafe is a perfect romantic space for 2 if only downstairs rooms are used. Using upstairs rooms it is good for sleeping up to 9 people. It is so comfortable and has such flexibility you may need to read everything below to decide how it can best suit your needs.

"We stayed... at the beautiful Cafe Cottage whilst on a Retreat.....we painted and wrote, inspired by the beautiful surrounds. A slice of heaven!" Cathy, Theresa and Sharyn, Sydney

When booked in association with our Cockatoo celebration space Cafe provides the commercial-standard kitchen and socialising/serving-space necessary to cater for large groups but it can also be rented independently of Cockatoo. In such circumstances Cockatoo may well be let to another party, but not to worry, the buildings and their verandas are private and well separated from each other. See Cafe/Cockatoo Floor Plan - Pdf 105Kb for more info. If complete seclusion is an absolute imperative then Chef's Cottage could be a better choice.

The kitchen

Cafe Cottage has a commercial-standard kitchen containing plenty of space for friends  or helpers to socialise in while preparing food. Equipment includes domestic and commercial LPG stoves, a freezer, 2 X refrigerators, domestic and commercial dishwashers, microwave, salamander, urn, kettle and toaster. There is sufficient cookware, crockery and cutlery to prepare for and serve 80 people.

For families and small groups there is an artisan-made forest redgum dining table with 10 hardwood chairs. With lounge furniture removed to the verandah and verandah tables put in their place, 20 diners can be comfortably seated inside. A party of more than 20 seated diners could be also be accommodated on the Cafe verandah alone. There is a large hooded BBQ on the verandah.

The Cafe Cottage lounge contains a queen sofa-lounge, several armchairs, a large coffee table, a CD player/tuner/iPod dock, a TV (free-to-air reception with set-top box) and a DVD player. The room can seat up to 12.

For sleeping there is a king-bed bedroom downstairs and one upstairs. A third sleeping position can be added as a foldup bed in the upstairs king bedroom. All of our king beds can be unzipped into singles. King single trundle beds in the loft can be zipped together to form a king double if required. There is sufficient loft space for a third sleeper in the loft in a foldup bed. The lounge room has a queen sized sofa lounge-bed. A single fold-up bed can also be placed in a space that adjoins the dining table and kitchen and can be separated from it by means of a drop-down screen.

Bathroom facilities consist of a downstairs shower and hand-basin room separate from an adjacent (flushing) toilet room. The toilet is adjacent to the downstairs king bedroom making that bedroom suitable for mobility impaired people. An Australian- standard handicapped flushing toilet and shower is accessible from the shared-access (with Cockatoo) foyer. There is also a (composting) toilet and a common laundry room outside the back door.

Leisure living

Café Cottage has a gas BBQ on the verandah, large lawns and garden nooks that provide additional entertainment and retreat space. There is a secluded outdoor claw-foot bath to laze in and enjoy the bush while bathing. The cottage is beautiful, rustic and very comfortable. Its AAA rating at less than 4 stars is because it has painted concrete kitchen, lounge (+ floor rug) and dining areas. While Cafe sounds grand and can cater for largish groups, it truly is also an ideal enjoyable and spacious holiday retreat for 1-2 couples. We know, because we happily lived there before we built our house by the dam.
