This year Anzac Day, 25th April, falls on a Saturday and so it is not a gazetted public holiday long weekend. However Anzac Day 2015 is a special one because it is the 100th anniversary of the Gallipoli debacle in which Australian troops suffered so badly. And here at Bawley Bush Retreat on that weekend we have enough vacancies for you to make it an ordinary or a personal long weekend break.
If you are a person who attends Anzac Day services there will, as usual, be a 6am dawn service at Kendall Cottage on the highway in Ulladulla. Hamish Richardson will be the piper. It is sure to be a moving experience.
For the first time ever an 11am service at our local Kioloa Community Hall will be held. That will be followed by an very interesting inaugural community event in the adjacent Kioloa fire shed. Community members and visitors are invited to display their family’s wartime (any war) memorabilia and talk about it to others interested. I will be participating and you are most welcome to join me at my table. If you want to do so just call me on 02 4457 1580.
From 4pm a traditional Anzac Two-up event will be held at the Merry Street Bar and Restaurant. Of course you may want to stay there or return later for an excellent a-la-carte dinner prepared by Chef John Estival. To book dinner call 02 4457 2020. We would be delighted to tell you about excellent alternative dining options.
If Anzac ceremonies are not your thing you will have a whole weekend to enjoy the delights of our area. Click HERE to download your copy of Discovering Bawley Point, our free eBook. You will find it a very useful guide.
