A Bawley Bush Retreat Christmas – Family, Beaches, Blueberries and more!!

Bawley Bush Retreat Notice Board

So many things to do on a Bawley Bush Retreat Holiday

The family has started arriving for Christmas at our place with summer visitors this week. It’s going to be a busy week for everyone at Bawley. Just like our Christmas cottage visitors, this year we’re hosting our family of more than twenty for a couple of days of eating, drinking, beaching and being together.

One of the best places to go near us at Bawley Bush Retreat is the Clyde River blueberry farm at Termeil.

Tree energy

Our favourite tree here at Bawley Bush Retreat

We usually have a trip there every year in December or January, the only time of the year the berries are ripe and ready for picking. It’s great for a cloudy day, or when you’re tired of the beach. (As if that could ever happen). The kids love it. They get to pick their own, though you have to watch them to make sure they don’t fill their buckets with unripe, green berries, as one of my young friends did once. His mother was not pleased.

It’s a lovely bush drive, about half an hour, and the rewards at the end are, luscious blueberries, blackberries, marionberries and strawberries as well. All organically grown. We can never resist buying the best berry jams in the southern hemisphere either. My favourite is the mixed berry. Scrumptious.

To cap it all, before we leave, everyone gets a cone filled with blueberry icecream. It’s worth the trip just for a taste of this nectar from the gods.

See you in the surf,

Pip
